The Board of Elders

       
The Board of Elders shall consist of at least three members. The chairman of this board shall be elected by the members of the Board. It shall be the duties of the Board of Elders to:

a)         assist the Pastor in all matters pertaining to the spiritual welfare of the
               congregation;

b)         see to it that the Gospel is preached in its truth and purity;

c)         see to the maintenance of an effective program of Christian training and
               instruction for all age groups of the congregation;

d)         conduct themselves at all times so as to be examples of devout Christian
               life;

e)         assist the Pastor in the care of the sick and needy, in the cultivation of 
               peace, harmony and love among the members; assist in the duty of
               Christian admonition when requested by the Pastor, aiding him in
               fulfilling his Pastoral duties whenever called upon to do so;

g)         adhere to the procedure set forth in Matthew 18:15-17, in cases requiring
               Christian discipline:

              "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witness.' If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.";

h)         bind themselves to strict silence in all matters of a confidential nature;

i)          appoint and supervise ushers;

j)          ensure opportunities for all members to be integrated into the life and work 
               of the church;

k)         ensure all church appointments are in order for each worship service;
l)          the Elder serving in the second year will serve on the Budget Committee.
